When I look at old photos from my childhood taken at my childhood home, I feel nostalgia over a couch or a toy or a piece of artwork. The image of an old cabinet or a vase is very special. It is like a window to the past that allows to remember everything in great little details.
I feel the same nostalgia when I look at photos I took of my kids at a home we no longer live in, or on a couch we don't own anymore.
It is only natural that many of you stress out about having a photography session in your home. It’s too messy! It’s not Pinterest-worthy! It’s too small! Don't let these thoughts hold you back from capturing your family at your natural environment. As a Bay Area Newborn and family photographer I am here to give you some tips to help you prepare your home for an in home newborn photography session.
Make sure you prepare your home in advance, not just upon the photographer's arrival.
The biggest tip is to clear the clutter in the room in which we will do the session. Artwork on walls is great, but piles of laundry, your kids toys, shopping bags, old dishes, piles of mail, will detract the attention from the main subject of the pictures, which is your family.
